Food Processors – The General Meal Prep Kitchen Workhorse



Food processors are another great kitchen tool to save time and energy during the preparation of meals. This is a great tool for mixing ingredients for general food preparations, but is also a great tool for slicing, dicing, grating, shredding, mincing, julienning and pureeing, as well as for making sauces, pesto, soups and salad dressings as well as making homemade bread crumbs and chopping vegetables with ease. Some processors can crush ice comfortably as well.



When looking for a good processor, it should at least have a 12 cup capacity, a large feed tube, sharp and sturdy blades which should include the basic blades and discs which include the standard steel blade, dough blade and a shredding and slicing disc.

When choosing a processor you should consider what you will use it for and how big a budget you have to spend on one or want to spend on one if money is not the primary issue.

The size of the prep bowl is one consideration, a small bowl would be a good choice if you are only preparing meals for your own family, but if meals are typically being prepared for large groups of people then a larger bowl would probably be a good choice.

You should also think about the kind of attachments that you might want if these are not a part of your stand mixer, you might want to add certain attachments to your food processor, such as an attachment for juicing or pasta making.

You should also consider the space that you may have in your kitchen. If you don’t have much counter top space, then you might want to choose a lighter weight processor which can be moved and stored easily.
