Juice Extractors – A Great Advocate For Good Nutrition

Juice extractors also called electric juicers and just juicers are a great tool for extracting the juice from fruits, vegetables and wheatgrass. These marvelous machines come in a variety of shapes, sizes and prices, and are great for the health conscious. These machines are a nice step up from a hand juicer. There are models that allow you to also collect the pulp from fruits and vegetables that are juiced to be used in other food creations.

Electric juicers are great for making large quantities of juice, easy to assemble, operate, and clean. There are some that come preassembled. They have what is referred to as a motorized reamer that makes juicing efficient, and a pulp screen to strain the seeds and pulp.

There are three types of juicers, centrifugal which has a blade and sieve, the fruit or vegetable is cut up with the flat blade, and spun at a high rate of speed to remove the juice from the pulp. The hydraulic press extractor also called the triturating extractor is the most expensive, but produces the largest amount of juice. Then there is the masticating extractor which can compact and crush fruits and vegetables against a screen which allows the juice to flow through the screen leaving the pulp behind to be expelled through a separate exit, these juicers can juice wheatgrass.

When purchasing a juicer there are models to satisfy just about any need from the basic to the more sophisticated, it is simply a matter of what you are looking for and what you are willing to pay for it.

These machines come with a chute for feeding the fruits and vegetables into the machine to extract the juice the chute is usually three inches wide. There are at least two different speeds and sometimes more than two, while others only have one speed, the faster the speed the more efficient the juicer.

Juicers that have too much pulp in the juice extracted are considered poor quality so it is important if you want pure juice to look for an extractor that separates juice from pulp cleanly. It is also important to look for a model that allows you to feed the entire fruit or vegetable into the machine without cutting it up, since these machines have a better motor that can handle whole fruits or vegetables.

For the nutrition conscious these juice extractors are useful for extracting vitamins, phytochemicals, enzymes and antioxidants from fruits and vegetables as part of a healthy diet.
