Stuffing Seasoning Mixture



Stuffing seasoning refers to the mix of herbs and spices that is used to season the bread mixture that is used to stuff poultry such as chickens and turkeys. Many of these recipes also contain another seasoning mix poultry seasoning mix.



Stuffing spice mixes often add celery flakes and onion flakes which distinguish them from a poultry mix. These stuffing mixtures are then added to bread crumbs and other ingredients to create a seasoned bread mixture that is stuffed into the cavity of the chicken or turkey imparting additional flavor to the bird and providing a tasty dish in the form of the stuffing which also absorbs the juices from the meat.

The basic ingredients of a stuffing mix usually consist of herbs such as savory, rosemary, thyme, sage, oregano and parsley as the base herb ingredients, by adding other ingredients to the mix the seasoning created results in a tastier stuffing.

5 teaspoons sweet Hungarian paprika

2 teaspoons ground coriander seed

1 teaspoon dried sage

1 teaspoon dried thyme

½ teaspoon ground cumin

½ teaspoon dried oregano

¼ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

Salt to taste

Mix thoroughly and add 1 finely chopped onion, 4 teaspoons finely chopped fresh parsley and 1 cup of fresh bread crumbs to make the actual stuffing.
